Types of Massage Therapy
For all massages other than lymphatic massage and the body scrubs, you will be able to fully customize your massage on our intake form when you arrive. You will select the style, pressure level, and any of our add-ons.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, and improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
A study conducted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and published in The New York Times, found that volunteers who received a 45-minute Swedish massage experienced significant decreases in levels of the stress hormone cortisol, as well as arginine vasopressin-a hormone that can lead to increases in cortisol. Volunteers also had increases in the number of lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of the immune system, and a boost in the immune cells that may help fight colds and the flu.
SWEDISH MASSAGE TECHNIQUES
Additional Swedish massage techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching. Before and during your Swedish massage session, communication is encouraged with your professional massage therapist so that your massage is customized to your specific needs.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
A study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that people's blood pressure fell after a single 45 to 60 minute deep tissue massage. Additionally, a 2010 meta-analysis in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry found that massage modalities like deep tissue reduce stress hormone levels and heart rate while boosting mood and relaxation by triggering the release of oxytocin and serotonin.
Couples Massage
Bring your significant other or your best friend for wonderfully relaxing, personal experience. During the session, two people receive massages at the same time and in the same room from two different therapists. This is also a great option for a mother/daughter spa day! Please note that we will put you in the same room unless you ask to be in separate rooms.

Prenatal massage can help to relieve aches in your back and neck, and address leg cramps. Fewer aches and pains can lead to a better night’s sleep. Prenatal massage can also improve circulation, help reduce nervous tension, and help relieve depression or anxiety.
We offer a proven face down pregnancy massage cushion. The design provides ultimate support for pregnancy massage, breast discomfort, or lower back pain during face-down massage treatments.. We do not recommend aromatherapy while you are pregnant. If you do not wish to be face-down for your massage, you may lay on your side or face up. Remember to speak with your OBGYN first to decide if prenatal massage is right for you.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Lymphatic Massage or MLD (Manual Lymph Drainage) is an advanced massage therapy which is frequently prescribed by surgeons for both pre– & post-cosmetic surgery and liposuction.
The treatment stimulates and increases the rate of removal of waste products, toxins and excess fluid from the body’s tissues. It also increases the exchange of oxygen and other nutrients in the body’s cells, improving the overall function of the body and ensures that their patients get the best results from their procedure and see the results as quickly as possible.
